Mossy Oak Properties held their annual Land Summit in Starkville, MS June 6th-8th. These were three full days packed with information, social gatherings, activities and networking. Three Mossy Oak Properties Iowa Brokers, an Agent and their Director of Marketing and Design all attended the conference this year.

The conference kicked off on Tuesday, June 6th with a Fox Hole Shootout Charity Golf Tournament, Clay Shoot and Live Fire Dinner and Auction. All proceeds from these events supported St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Catch-A-Dream Foundation and Sportsmen Organized for Law Enforcement (SOLE).

On Wednesday the conference began with an warm opening and Mossy Oak Properties brand update presented by Chris Hawley. At the conclusion of the brand update attendees were motivated by author, speaker and trainer Bill Beausay. Bill is the former director of Research and Development at Academy of Sports Psychology and author of nearly 20 books. Bill encouraged participants to be visionaries and to have a vision. Everyone in the room should have a “Watch This” mindset according to Bill and he encouraged them to picture their life the way they really want it and to go for it, break the rules, break down the barriers in your mind and do things a little different to get where you want to be!

The second speaker of the morning was real estate economist Dr. Mark G. Dotzour. Dr. Doutzour served as the Chief Economist of the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M and has written numbers magazine and journal articles related to economics. Dr. Dotzour provided a wealth of information on the current state of the economy, what agents should be watching for and what to expect in the future. Dr. Dotzour’s presentation was filled with humor as well as information that could be taken back and used in day-to-day work.

New office recognition, office of the year and agent of the year videos were shown and winners were presented at the conclusion of the morning speakers. Congrats to the 2017 Agent of the year, Brad Hawkins of Mossy Oak Properties Dixie Land and Wildlife in Selmer, Tennessee and the Office of the year, Mossy Oak Properties Land and Luxury in North Carolina. At the conclusion of the Awards Ceremony an amazing lunch was provided by Mississippi Land Bank.

Wednesday afternoon provided an opportunity for afternoon recreation and the evening concluded with a Southern Barbecue Social Dinner at The Wright Place- the Haas family cabins. This event gave agents and brokers an opportunity to network in a relaxed comfortable environment, enjoy some great food and relax as the day ended.

The second day of the Land Summit started out with important Corporate information related to the Mossy Oak Brand, the camo line and updates to the Corporate website. George Thornton provided information on Conservation Easements and a Roundtable Discussion was held with some of the top agents and brokers in the network. They provided information about what is currently happening in the field as well as useful tips and tools for our offices.

The conference concluded with two breakout sessions that participants could attend; one on Comprehensive Marketing and one on Systems for Team Success. MOP Iowa attendees split up during these sessions so that they could bring back as much information as possible about the two different topics.

Marketing Director Heidi Bainbridge felt this was a valuable experience for her, being new to the network she learned a lot about the Mossy Oak Brand, the franchise and what others in the industry were doing in terms of marketing. This will help her to take MOP Iowa marketing to the next level.

Agent, Tayer Riggen said that “I’ve been selling real estate with Mossy Oak Properties for 6 years, and it truly is a lifestyle brand. Mossy Oak isn’t just a camouflage company. It’s a way of life. As an agent and Certified Land Specialist, selling real estate has never been about transactions and dollars to me. It’s about sharing my way of life with others that feel a connection to the outdoors. From agricultural and recreational farms, to rural living, Mossy Oak Properties is dedicated to helping people “find their favorite place”. That’s why I chose Mossy Oak Properties. That’s the message that is re-affirmed in my mind every time we go to the annual Land Summit. It’s a family, all working for one goal.”

Broker, Barb Hendricks Boley has been in the real estate business for over 25 years but this was her first time to attend the Land Summit. Barb enjoyed the whole event, being able to reconnect with the corporate staff and especially the awesome southern barbeque at the Haas cabin. Mossy Oak Properties Iowa started as the family owned business, Boley Real Estate, and being associated with a company like Mossy Oak Properties that puts so much value into family is important to her as the business grows and prospers.

“It is always nice to attend the Annual Land Summit and have the opportunity to visit with other brokers from across the country”, remarks Broker, Tyler Boley. He feels networking with other agents and brokers is so important in this business. “The conference is a great place to see many people we already knew and to meet new people who have joined the network. The Mossy Oak Properties staff always provide helpful information that really motivates each of us as agents and are so welcoming with everything they provide for us working in the field.”
